The plum brandy (Slivovitz) cult in Serbia is very strong. Sometimes, these are the type and quality of brandy that matter, while sometimes the only important thing is how much one can drink.

Followers of this cult gather each year in Pranje (near Gornji Milanovac) and compete in drinking brandy in „the most chivalrous“ manner. The brandy festival has clear rules and the contestants are expected to drink as much brandy as they can, but also to be able to retain enough consciousness to be able to talk and walk in straight line. During this unique tournament, people drink more than 200 litres of brandy.

The film shows a reconstruction of the ritual practice of herdsmen in Šumadija (central Serbia) related to the feast of St Peter. On this day, torches made of bark (lile) are lit. Along with other magical rituals, they symbolically protect cattle and the household.
