The Šestine umbrella is a symbol of the city of Zagreb and a part of the Prigorje folk costume, which is protected as intangible cultural heritage. At the same time, in the village of Mauterndorf in Austria, during the celebration of the summer holiday Samsonumzug, the ritual procession is composed of local inhabitants in archaic folk costumes with ornamental Šestine umbrellas. The folklorist Vido Bagur seeks to identify all communities which consider this umbrella their identity marker.
