In the first decades of the 20th century, Vlasotince, a picturesque and thriving little town in the South East of Serbia, had extensive vineyards and was one of the greatest producers of wine in the Balkans. If Leskovac of the time could be named a Serbian Manchester, Vlasotince would equally deserve the nickname Balkan Tuscany. Towards the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century, when Serbia switched to the market economy, the transition ruined the grape plantations and wineries in Vlasotince. Today, Jagorida – which was a word denoting the unpicked grapes during grape-picking – found in the ruins of Vlasotince Winery Community raises hope in the revitalisation of Vlasotince wineries. This is a film about the salvation of Balkan Tuscany.
Nebojša Ilić (1969), from Vlasotince, started his career in 1994 as a cameraman for а local television. Since 2006 he has been working in the Cultural Center of Vlasotince, where he records all important events within the municipality аs well as outside. He is a member of numerous professional associations. He says that he is first and foremost a cinematographer and then everything else... He is a complete author of the films he creates.
